More than 30 years, Fred Royal captured the sportsman division stock car championship at Santa Fe Speedway near Willow Springs in 1977.  Royal and his rapid-running Nova captured 31 feature races at the popular Chicagoland dirt track.  Sadly, Royal passed away in 2009.
