International Racing Association

 Notes:  Founded by former USAC stock car driver Sal Tovella in October of 1981 as a sanctioning body for full-bodied, 3300 pound/110 inch wheelbase stock cars similar to USAC and ARCA…moto was “The Return of Real Auto Racing”…principals involved originally were Tovella as President, John Jage—Executive Vice President, Ed Hoffman—Secretary/Treasurer, Al Swenson—Director of Competition, Fred Mosco—Director of Technical Operations and Harry Molenaar—Director of Marketing…Hoffman resigned before the 1982 season began…a total of 20 events were held between 1982 and 1985, 13 of which were held at Molenaar’s Illiana Motor Speedway…a two-time IRA Champion—Bob Schacht won a total of  12 IRA races.
