Illini Racing Midgets at Grundy County Speedway

Midget auto racing at the annual Grundy County Fair dates back to 1936 when the fair and racing were held at Mazon, Ill. Since 1971, the fair has been held at the Grundy County Fairgrounds in Morris, Ill., home of the Grundy County Speedway.  During this year's 106th annual fair, the Illini Racing Series midgets competed at the speedway on June 30.  Phil Rider's photo shows the Illini midget racers giving fans a four-car-wide salute before the feature race that was won by David Budres.
