1965 Waukegan Speedway Souvenir Program

Erik Johnson was a frontrunner in the late model ranks when the Waukegan Speedway was paved prior to the 1969 season.  Driving the Martinelli Brothers-owned Chevelle, Johnson set fast time during an early-season program and carries the American Flag during opening ceremonies.

After a late model drivers' strike about midway through the 1972 season, George Dukas found himself leading the points in the new late model/sportsman division at the speedway.  Dukas claimed division honors that year.
