Bob Button (second from left) garnered top stock car honors at Raceway Park in 1956 by winning eight feature races during the year. Button had the distinction of winning six 50-lap races in a row at the “World’s Busiest Track.” Button started his string off by winning “Twin 50’s on Labor Day, 1955. He then won “Twin 50’s” again on Memorial Day, 1956 and finished off his streak with two more 50-lap wins on the Fourth of July of his title-winning season. Button is shown here after one of his Fourth of July wins with starter Tom Plouzek (left), local car dealer Marvin Miller and announcer Wayne Adams (second from the right) and assistant starter Roger “Smokey” Smith on the far right.
